Hollywood Kicks Off Awards Season at Palm Springs International Film Awards Gala
“Wow, this is such a beautiful and sophisticated event,” Miley Cyrus said from the stage Saturday night at the Palm Springs International Film Awards, where she received the Outstanding Artistic Achievement Award for her song “Dream As One” (Avatar: Fire and Ash). “It is truly the most elegant Palm Springs party that I have ever been to,” she continued, with a knowing smile. “There are fewer drag queens than I like, but I’ll be stopping by Toucans on my way back to L.A. to get my fix, OK?”
The Plaza Theatre Celebrates Book Release at Destination PSP
Desert Dream to Silver Screen, a book produced in collaboration with Palm Springs Life detailing the history of The Plaza Theatre leading up to the December 2025 reopening, celebrated its debut on Sunday, Dec. 21, at Destination PSP in Palm Springs. The meet-and-greet book signing with authors Jim Cook and Catherine Graham underscored The Plaza Theatre as a cultural destination in Palm Springs.
Men of the Desert Fashion Show Sets Attendance Record
Animal Samaritans’ 16th annual Men of the Desert Fashion Show and Luncheon, presented by The Carl Jud Foundation, returned to the Palm Springs Air Museum with record-breaking excitement, welcoming more than 500 attendees — the largest audience in the event’s history. The afternoon unfolded as a celebration of fashion, philanthropy, and the energy that makes this event a highlight of the desert social season.

AIA California Desert Chapter Celebrates 40 Years at PKS3 Studio
The desert design community turned out Nov. 8 at PKS3 Studio in Palm Desert to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the American Institute of Architects California Desert Chapter (AIACDC). Nearly 100 attendees filled the gallery of honorary AIACDC member Philip K. Smith III, a Rhode Island School of Design alum known for his luminous desert installations.
Design, Fashion, and Architecture Converge at Desert Design District Talk
The Desert Design District gathered Nov. 20 at Roche Bobois on El Paseo in Palm Desert for an evening exploring the interplay of design, fashion, and architecture — and to celebrate the U.S. debut of the showroom’s Pedro Almodóvar Cromatica Collection. The program featured fashion designer Trina Turk, Fashion Week El Paseo director Susan Stein, and architect Lance O’Donnell, while Eight4Nine Catering & Events passed hors d’oeuvres and District members modeled looks from Turk’s holiday line.

Hollywood Dine & Dish Benefits AAP Food Samaritans
Michael Childers’ Hollywood Dine & Dish served up cocktails, fine dining, and unscripted anecdotes at the private Andreas Hills residence of Michael Corbett and James Pelk on Oct. 30. The star-studded event benefitted AAP Food Samaritans, a nonprofit serving low-income Coachella Valley residents who need food assistance and struggle with chronic illnesses like HIV/AIDS.
