The desert design community turned out Nov. 8 at PKS3 Studio in Palm Desert to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the American Institute of Architects California Desert Chapter (AIACDC).
Nearly 100 attendees filled the gallery of honorary AIACDC member Philip K. Smith III, a Rhode Island School of Design alum known for his luminous desert installations. The reception honored the chapter’s four decades of work and highlighted its ongoing commitment to addressing economic, environmental, and societal challenges through architecture and design in the Coachella Valley.
As part of the national AIA network, the chapter supports architects through professional development, advocacy, and community engagement that promotes thoughtful, well-designed environments.
