LGBTQ+ Pride
In 2017, Palm Springs became the first U.S. city with an all-LGBTQ+ city council — a milestone that reflects the makeup of its community and the values it celebrates. Today, roughly half of the city’s residents identify as LGBTQ+.
Mecca for Modernism
Palm Springs was a blank canvas for the bold ideas of many notable midcentury architects. Their legacy lives on through groups like Modernism Week, Palm Springs Modern Committee, and Palm Springs Preservation Foundation.
Walk of Stars
More than 400 names line the Palm Springs Walk of Stars along Palm Canyon Drive, Museum Way, and Tahquitz Canyon Way — including Elvis Presley, Elizabeth Taylor, and Frank Sinatra, whose home here famously featured a piano-shaped pool.
Sacred Ground
Palm Springs sits on the ancestral lands of the Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians. An archaeological dig at the Agua Caliente Cultural Plaza site in 2018 revealed tribal ties to the area dating back at least 8,000 years.
