El Morocco Inn & Spa

In the late 1950s, a small roadside inn called the Caravan Spa-tel sprang up over a bubbling vein of mineral-rich waters. Decades later, when Bruce Abney and John Aguilar acquired the tired property in 2001, they envisioned a boutique hideaway that would feel as rich with atmosphere as it is with healing water. The site’s own mineral well, capable of pumping 104-degree water into its pools and Jacuzzi, provided the foundation.

Together, they transformed the 12-room inn with architectural elements and artwork collected on travels through Morocco and beyond, including handmade canopy fabrics cascading from the rafters. Spa facilities are open to the public with a day pass or treatment, many highlighting the restorative qualities of traditional Moroccan clay.

The Spring Resort & Spa

Soaking in the mineral-rich waters that gave Desert Hot Springs its name has long been a source of renewal. Since 1957, The Spring Resort & Spa has refined that tradition, drawing a devoted following not because it’s the flashiest but because it feels the most intimate and intentional.

Adults-only and whisper-quiet by policy, the hideaway trades screens and distractions for stillness and sunshine. Three mineral pools serve 13 rooms and suites, some with private outdoor tubs where the healing water flows straight from the earth. Guests float between the Finnish sauna, spa treatments, and optional personalized detox cleanses.

As co-owner Wayne Krygier recalls, “In the ’60s, a visiting writer said you could hear the water speak during early morning soaks. The bubbling sounded like breathing — a reminder that nature was at work beneath your feet.” It still is.

Two Bunch Palms

Founded in the 1930s and long rumored to have sheltered Al Capone, Two Bunch Palms became a countercultural hideaway in the 1970s, known for its clothing-optional soaks. Those days have passed, and the modern resort now channels its mystique into conscious luxury and holistic wellness.

A carbon-neutral pioneer in hospitality, the resort is powered entirely by a 3.5-acre solar farm that offsets electricity, saving millions of pounds of carbon emissions and hundreds of millions of gallons of water over decades. Its dining program reflects a farm-to-table philosophy. Plant-forward menus, natural wines, and adaptogenic beverages complement the spa experience.

Daily programming unfolds like a wellness curriculum: yoga, Pilates, meditation, and workshops in holistic nutrition, energy healing, and herbal medicine. For deeper exploration, guests may book past-life regression, tarot or oracle sessions, sage cleanses, or mineral-water sound baths, guided by intuitive practitioners. Firepit-lit paths, a yoga dome, and even a tennis court add to the sense of a retreat where body and spirit find equal care.

Hope Springs

Vanity Fair calls Hope Springs “an architectural gem.” Interiors hails it as “an aesthetic oasis.” British Vogue deems it “a total head cleanser.” The 10-room property promotes a serene, screen-free experience — there are no TVs, there is no music, and guests are not permitted to talk on the phone in common areas. Natural hot springs fill three pools. The spa, open to the public for treatments and day passes, offers massages, facials, scrubs, and combo packages. Hotel buyouts are available for larger groups.

Here, renewal is immersive and inclusive. Overnight stays include guided fasting programs and daily colonics, supported by treatments such as mineral soaks, clay wraps, aromatherapy massages, reiki, and crystal sound baths. Daily classes in yoga, meditation, and breathwork complement holistic workshops in nutrition and herbal medicine. Additional lectures on detox practices and one-on-one support ensure a deeply personal experience.

Suites open onto private terraces with desert views. A juice bar by the heated pool provides nutrient-rich blends, while circadian lighting helps reset the body’s natural rhythms. Every detail is designed to move guests away from daily friction and toward restored vitality.

The Good House

Behind vine-draped walls in the Miracle Hill district, The Good House cultivates the mood of a private home, complete with two pools filled from the town’s famed mineral springs. The property is compact — just seven rooms — yet its atmosphere feels expansive, thanks to shaded gardens, firelight, and a day spa that extends the sense of retreat. It’s the kind of place you can retreat to for solitude, without giving up modern comforts. Rooms are equipped with streaming TV services, and though juice cleanses are available, pizza and cocktails are too. In partnership with Kind Traveler, The Good House donates $2 per night of every stay to the LGBTQ+ Community Center of the Desert.
