What do you get when you cross an herby quesadilla with a crêpe, roll it into a cone, and stuff it with delicious fillings like chopped chicken, pesto, and veggies, or beef and housemade cheese sauce? A full stomach and a clean plate. (OK, scratch the “clean plate” part; these things are as messy as a Carl’s Jr. commercial but totally worth the T-shirt stains.)
Desert native Marcel Ramirez opened Gabino’s Creperie as a pop-up in 2019, making it official in 2020 with a small brick-and-mortar space in Palm Springs. The hole-in-the-wall spot gained a quick following among locals and enjoys a steady stream of curious tourists who’ve seen the savory crêpe cones on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives with Guy Fieri.
In April 2024, Ramirez opened a second location in downtown Indio (shown above). It’s kitty-corner to the city’s outdoor community stage and part of an exciting boom in the East Valley food scene that includes neighboring hangouts Indio Taphouse, Italica, and Encore Coffee, with two breweries and other businesses on the way. After dining in at Gabino’s Creperie East, walk it off on Miles Avenue and check out Happy Alley for a fun photo-op beneath a canopy of colorful umbrellas. (Find it between Towne and Oasis streets.)
