DEL WEBB COURTS GEN X
Developed with Gen X buyers in mind, Del Webb Explore Palm Desert might not blare Nirvana from speakers around the pool or screen The Breakfast Club on VHS in the clubhouse. But it does eschew the 55-and-older restriction. The all-ages enclave, situated on 71 acres, is the first under the company’s new brand designed “for the next generation of resort living.” With Gen Xers hovering in their mid-40s to the pushing-60 range, the community welcomes them as well as their live-in parents, adult kids, or grandchildren who need their care.
Sales began in February and the first residents will move in later this year. Plans for 332 primarily single-story homes include two-story options and second-level guest suites.

SUSTAINABLE, STYLISH, AND A LITTLE BIT WILD
Under a green awning on San Pablo Avenue, Atelier 27 invites shoppers into a world where Mediterranean chic meets desert cool. Opened in March by longtime Coachella Valley resident Jennifer Douheret, former co-owner of Clementine Gourmet Marketplace, the boutique presents a thoughtful mix of pre-loved, new, select consignment, and vintage fashion alongside distinctive home décor, candles, and gifts.
More than a boutique, Atelier 27 is a “labor of love,” Douheret says — a place that reflects her personal history and desire to support sustainability. Named for her childhood address in Naples, Italy, and inspired by her Italian upbringing and her French husband’s influence, the shop exudes a relaxed European charm with a rustic California twist.
“It’s highly curated and it definitely has my spin on it: sustainable, stylish, and a little bit wild,” she says. “A soulful closet that feels like San Miguel de Allende meets Joshua Tree meets South of France with a twang of ranch heiress and a splash of Italian bohème.”
Dishes and serveware from the owner’s Italian homeland join a range of home accessories and new and pre-loved fashion at Atelier 27.
Atelier 27 embraces “intentionally high-low” fashion, from breezy caftans to Western boots, as well as handpicked treasures for the home — baskets, pillows, tableware, artisanal incense, collectible ceramics from Italy and Portugal, and the exclusive A Dopo soy candle line, poured into artful vessels designed to be repurposed. Pieces from Deruta and Vietri that Douheret recalls from childhood punctuate the front table, while south-of-the-border finds and colorful Mexican art add warmth and flair.
Remi, her miniature Bernedoodle, adds to the welcoming spirit, often greeting visitors from behind the counter.
“I’ve known since 2014 that I wanted to open a boutique on San Pablo Avenue,” Douheret says. “Now to have amazing neighbors and a wave of incredible new businesses coming in, the timing feels perfect.”
