Some love stories start with grand gestures, others with a simple “Heyy” waiting patiently in an inbox for five years.
Chicago natives Reilly and Joanna met at a summer concert on a ski hill, where Reilly casually mentioned that he had once reached out to Joanna on social media. She laughed it off — until she found the message, which had sat unopened since 2013. That long-lost DM was a reminder that the best things in life don’t pass you by, they just wait for the perfect moment.
Their wedding at Frank Sinatra’s Twin Palms Estate was a stunning blend of Old Hollywood glamour and personal history, complete with a Sinatra impersonator. They embraced a desert chic aesthetic, weaving in warm, sun-kissed hues, like kumquat, a nod to Joanna’s childhood memories of picking the fruit at her grandparents’ Indian Canyons home. Surrounded by loved ones, they reveled in the magic of their dream day. Then, moments before the ceremony, they realized the marriage license was missing.
With guests already seated and the clock ticking, their wedding planner, Trish Jones, swooped in with a solution: a second ceremony. The estate remained the backdrop for the big, dazzling celebration. But two days later, the couple made it official — after securing another license — with an intimate, windswept vow exchange in Joshua Tree. “We had the most amazing first wedding, but getting to go to Joshua Tree and have a private ceremony with Trish was fitting for us,” Joanna shares. “Getting to have literally the best of both worlds when it comes to a Palm Springs wedding is unreal — I just feel so blessed I got to do it with my best friend.”
