When Layla envisioned her wedding to Alex, she imagined the most epic party outside of the Black Rock Desert. So, with the Coachella Valley serving as the backdrop for their shared love of desert revelry, the couple’s Burning Man–inspired celebration pulsed with bohemian vibes, festival music, and endless joy.
Born and raised in Los Angeles as first-generation Iranian Jews, their love story was orchestrated by Layla’s godsister, who is married to Alex’s brother-in-law. From there, the relationship blossomed effortlessly into a love they describe as “adventurous, loving, selfless.” Nine months after being set up, Alex proposed to Layla in Israel, a place deeply significant to them both.
For the festivities at the Cache Estate in Indio, Layla’s bridesmaids dazzled in bright, popsicle-colored dresses, and their custom chuppah, inspired by an art piece they saw at Burning Man, stood as a striking centerpiece. Persian and Jewish traditions intertwined: The hora (a customary dance) ignited the reception, and the couple was showered with petals during the gol berizi (a traditional Persian flower throwing ceremony). An ice cream truck, reminiscent of a beloved Burning Man party they’d attended, added a playful touch.
The dance party stretched until dawn, fueled by blended house beats with Persian, Spanish, and Israeli melodies. “The goal of the night was to have an all-nighter,” Layla shares. From their dogs walking down the aisle to the Persian eats, every detail was personal, every moment electric.
