Since partnering with the Palm Springs Unified School District in fall 2020, the local branch of the nonprofit Think Together has worked to innovate and scale academic solutions that positively impact close to 3,000 students in the Coachella Valley. Programs align with the school day, equipping growing minds with essential skills, building confidence, and nurturing their talents for college and careers.
Collaboration Brings Opportunities
At Desert Hot Springs High School, for example, 50 students have the opportunity to enroll in a barbering class. This collaboration between the school district, school staff, and Think Together promotes professional growth and community involvement, teaching students valuable trade skills that can lead to a viable career.
Every Tuesday, students learn the fundamentals and apply them in a mock workplace environment. Graduates of the program may go on to complete an apprenticeship with the California Board of Barbering and Cosmetology.
Students also participate in Think Together’s Workforce Readiness Education Program, where they learn about financial literacy, résumé building, cover letter writing, customer service, and other essential life skills.
Create Tomorrow’s Success Today
Founded in 1997, Think Together has grown into one of California’s largest nonprofits, serving more than 200,000 students statewide, including in the Coachella Valley. Through local partnerships and community support, Think Together empowers students to reach their full potential, not only academically but also personally and professionally.
Supporting Think Together ensures students receive access to high-quality education in meaningful subjects, setting them on a path toward a brighter future.
