International classical-crossover vocalist Christopher Macchio will perform March 2 at the Starry Starry Night gala at Chaparral Country Club in Palm Desert to support breast cancer research at UC San Diego Health’s Moores Cancer Center, the region’s only National Cancer Institute–designated cancer center.

Known for his versatility and powerful tenor voice, Macchio has sold out concerts at Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center, shared the stage with Rod Stewart, and sang at the presidential inauguration on Jan. 20. He will headline the gala hosted by Eric B of the hip-hop duo Eric B and Rakim and Patrick Evans of KESQ News Channel 3 and featuring cocktails, a gourmet dinner, and a live auction with enticing lots such as lunch with Dynasty star Joan Collins and her husband, Percy Gibson.

Event organizer and cancer survivor Daphne Barak, a network TV interviewer, film and television producer, and author, has received treatment at UCSD since she was diagnosed 13 months ago and now champions early detection. The part-time desert resident credits her friend, Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York, for encouraging her to pursue a diagnostic screening after Ferguson successfully battled breast cancer and melanoma.

Starry Starry Night promises to be an inspiring evening, uniting the community in support of vital cancer research while celebrating resilience and hope. For more information, visit gamechangerevents.org.
