Doctors, entertainers, political figures, and scores of donors converged on Chaparral Country Club in Palm Desert to hear tenor Christopher Macchio perform at the Starry Starry Night gala and support breast cancer research at UC San Diego Health’s Moores Cancer Center, the region’s only National Cancer Institute–designated cancer center. Hip-hop legend Eric B and KESQ News Channel 3’s Patrick Evans shared emcee duties as the black-tie affair honored doctors Bryan Clary, Anne Wallace, Rebecca Shatsky, Catheryn Yashar, and Mohammad Eghtedari. Among the 160 guests were secretary of health and human services Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and his actor wife Cheryl Hines, actor Corey Feldman and his singer girlfriend Adrien Skye, musician B. Howard, and actor Rachelle Begley. Journalist, cancer survivor, and part-time desert resident Daphne Barak and husband Erbil “Bill” Gunasti organized the event, which featured a gourmet dinner and a live auction that included private lunches with Dynasty star Joan Collins, Prince Jackson (Michael’s eldest son), and Eric Trump.
