40 Under 40: 2025 Honoree
Crystal Harrell
Crystal Harrell was born and raised in La Quinta and never considered leaving. “I love the valley, and I couldn’t see myself living anywhere else,” she shares. “The Coachella Valley has really grown in terms of the culture and the art. I feel that there’s something new to discover about it every single day.”
As senior promotions producer at KESQ, Harrell works behind the scenes editing scripts, shooting video, and building graphics to deliver the stories that matter most to local viewers. She also writes features for Coachella Valley Weekly, profiling business owners, artists, and community leaders. “I’ve always had a curious mind and a passion for storytelling,” Harrell says. “I believe that everyone has a story worth telling.”
Off the clock, she mentors interns at KESQ, volunteers with Big Brothers Big Sisters and FIND Food Bank, and advocates for patients with rare autoimmune diseases through the International Pemphigus & Pemphigoid Foundation’s annual education conference.
Harrell recently returned to her alma mater, Cal State San Bernardino’s Palm Desert Campus, to speak with communication students about her career — a reminder of how far she’s come and the difference she hopes to make for the next generation.
