Veterinary care can be costly, but Animal Samaritans bridges the gap with financial aid. “It’s deeply fulfilling to remove that financial barrier, so [pet parents] don’t have to make hard decisions related to cost,” Justine Ziembo says. “Being able to help in a critical moment is so rewarding, and it’s really what makes our organization stand out.”
Ziembo oversees two nonprofit veterinary clinics serving the Coachella Valley. She leads the team that expanded services in recent years, onboarding staff, increasing patient capacity, and maintaining outreach programs. “It’s been great being part of that process,” she shares. “We’ve been able to [realize] our vision without compromising any of our core values, and that’s truly a testament to the staff.”
Originally from Goodrich, Michigan, Ziembo moved to the desert with her husband, drawn by its golf culture and vibrant community. She believes in leading with compassion and accountability and encourages others to trust their instincts. “Speak up and step into the leadership role. Even if you don’t feel ready.”
