40 Under 40: 2025 Honoree

Majna Dukic

Director of  Development Services, City of  Rancho Mirage

Born in Bosnia, Majna Dukic moved to the Coachella Valley with her family after the Balkan conflicts of the 1990s and grew up in Palm Desert. A general elective in city planning changed the course of  her life, inspiring her to switch from pre-med to urban planning. “It was the problem solving and working with the community that stood out to me,” she shares.

Dukic joined the city of Rancho Mirage as an assistant planner in 2016 and steadily worked her way up to director, a role she stepped into in 2022. The only woman currently leading a development services department in Greater Palm Springs, she is often the first call when someone wants to open a business. “I’ve been able to work on great projects, such as Cotino, Eisenhower Health expansions, and Sensei Porcupine Creek,” she says.

Beyond city hall, Dukic invests in the destination she serves, from fundraising for the Coachella Valley Rescue Mission to walking the runway as a “Model Citizen” in the Joslyn Center’s annual gala. She sees her work as a way to honor her parents’ sacrifices and aims to pay it forward by doing her part to improve opportunities for fellow residents.
