Located in La Quinta, California, PGA WEST — known as “The Western Home of Golf in America”™ — ranks as a bucket-list destination for many golfers. This summer, a new state-of-the-art performance center called The Summit will open in the PGA WEST Tournament clubhouse. Open to the public, the facility will offer two simulator bays, a 16-foot Zen Putting Stage, Quintic putting software, Trackman iO Launch Monitor system, and a custom club fitting experience. “The Summit will be dedicated solely to golf instruction,” PGA WEST general manager Jeff Muller says. “You will be working directly with our team of supremely talented instructors, many ranked among the Top 100 in the United States, to elevate your game to new heights.”
Improved playing skills will translate well on the club’s scenic configurations. “Our courses are by far in the best condition they have been in for a long, long time,” Muller says. The Pete Dye–designed Mountain, Dunes, and Stadium courses, plus the Greg Norman and Jack Nicklaus Tournament courses, are open to public play.
Access to private layouts on the property, including the Pete Dye–designed Citrus and others designed by Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus, and Tom Weiskopf, is available through two member clubs: The Club at PGA WEST and The Citrus Club. Given their invitation-only status, both have been described as “clubs built by friends.”
The Club at PGA WEST gives members unlimited golf on six courses within PGA WEST plus access to a Sports Club, pools, 16 pickleball courts, 10 tennis courts, a drive-in golf cart movie theater, and a vibrant calendar with more than 300 annual events. The Citrus Club offers a more intimate membership experience, with access to the Citrus, Dunes, and Mountain courses and to amenities at nearby La Quinta Resort & Club. An overarching Distinguished Desert Golf membership provides playing privileges at all nine courses.
