Biophilia, which refers to the human affinity for living things and nature, also applies to design, and Laurie Moulton (nickname Lolo) has figured out how to make furniture biophilic. Neutral tones, organic materials, raw textures — welcome in, nature.

Karen Harlow for the Home

With an eclectic but elegant assortment of furnishings and decorative items at her boutique, Karen Harlow urges customers to “move away from the typical matching furniture and fabrics.” She takes the same approach with her interior “design therapy” services. 

La Quinta

Coco Rose Home

Twice a year, the mother-daughter owners of this Old Town La Quinta boutique visit the island of Bali to hand-select home goods they love, then ship their finds to the desert and make it available at the store. The décor, like the clothing they also sell, is breezy, bohemian, and stylish.

For 30 years, customers have flocked to Revivals locations to “relove the preloved,” or love for the first time by matching vintage finds with the stores’ Mode line of new, affordable furniture. Also lovely? All proceeds benefit DAP Health.
