To describe 632 Pinnacle Crest by its parts — a luxury estate with endless valley views, a private lap pool you could dive into from the master suite, an authentic London-style pub, and custom garage made for exotic car collections — would be like describing a soundtrack by its instruments, or a film by its actors.
Beyond these singular moments, 632 Pinnacle Crest is also a slice of Coachella Valley history. This is the iconic estate where Jerry Weintraub chose to live. The legendary Hollywood manager and producer who steered the careers of Frank Sinatra and Elvis Presley and shot The Karate Kid and Ocean’s Eleven into the cultural stratosphere, could have lived anywhere, and often did. But Weintraub chose this as his desert home.
“He invested in plenty of projects around the desert,” recalls Lorna Ball, friend and broker associate at BIGHORN Properties. “But he chose to live here, at BIGHORN. That says everything.”
A LOT YOU CAN’T REPLICATE
Any local will tell you: Views like this can’t be replicated. The 1.44-acre property commands one of the most prized vantage points in the Coachella Valley, perched high above the 16th hole and 17th par 3 on BIGHORN’s Tom Fazio–designed Canyons Course. Sweeping down-valley views, the Santa Rosa Mountains to the east, and the gorgeous greens below.
“This is the kind of location you build everything around,” Ball adds. “You can remodel a kitchen, but you can’t create this kind of view.”
A HOME THAT LIVES LIGHTLY ON THE LAND
Envisioned by renowned architectural designer Guy Dreier, the 9,152-square-foot estate is sculpted with the elegance of a resort and the privacy of a retreat. Walls of glass pocket completely away — a seamless indoor-outdoor design that unwinds at the touch of a button. Soaring light-wood ceilings stretch above French Beaumanière limestone floors, while a sculptural see-through fireplace of steel anchors the space with artistic intent.
Inside the master retreat, a glass-floored extension appears to hover over the lap pool, designed to feel like the room floats above water. The bedroom opens directly, and quite literally into the pool. “You can dive from the master bedroom into a separate, private lap pool that runs alongside the south side of the home,” Ball explains. “Then you swim directly into either of the ‘his’ or ‘hers’ bathroom suites. It’s that well-thought out.”
The interiors flow like the lifestyle they support. A media room sits just off the kitchen, while seamless indoor-outdoor living spaces and intimate lounge areas are tucked into bold architectural gestures. “It’s a large home, but it lives incredibly well for two people,” Ball says.
Outside, the estate continues to astonish with an open-air living room with wood ceilings, limestone floors, two infinity edge pools, a spa, and sunbather’s terrace. Custom furnishings and a floating barbecue center set the stage for both grand gatherings and peaceful solitude. It’s the kind of setting where a simple Tuesday dinner feels like a celebration.
CLARIDGE’S-INSPIRED PUB, CAST PARTIES, AND QUIET NIGHTS
Of all the signature spaces, the Claridge’s Pub could inspire its own film. “It’s a replica of a pub in London where Jerry [Weintraub] used to make deals,” Ball recalls, sharing one of Weintraub’s favorite stories. “There’s a full bar with taps, a card table, TVs, and even a concession-style back bar.” The room glows with onyx art deco sconces, polished wood, and a hammered tin ceiling.
The stories around the pub are worthy of their own scripts. “When he threw a party for Ocean’s, the entire cast stayed here. They were so gracious, and Jerry loved that he could host them at BIGHORN where they’d be comfortable, and their privacy respected,” Ball adds.
Located on the opposite wing of the home from the master retreat, four interior private suites each offer en-suite baths and direct outdoor access. The separate-entry guest house is also a world unto itself with clerestory windows, kitchenette, indoor/outdoor fireplace, a Rain Forest stone bathroom, and private spa courtyard with a daybed and lap pool access. Ideal for hosting visiting friends or family.
A LEGACY UPDATED, NOT JUST MAINTAINED
When the current homeowners purchased the home from the Weintraub estate in 2019, they treated it with reverence, but also with practicality, making updates and improvements such as a new roof, full solar, HVAC and pool equipment, essential components for those who know how to live well in the desert. The owners, who have since purchased another home within BIGHORN, also enjoyed the size and customized space of the six-car garage. “It’s our own personal Vault,” say the owners, referencing The Vault, BIGHORN’s Club within a Club, which houses Members’ personal exotic, rare, and luxury vehicles. In addition to the large garage, a separate golf cart garage is attached to and accessed directly from the master retreat.
MORE THAN A HOME, A LIFESTYLE
To understand the full draw of 632 Pinnacle Crest, you have to look beyond the property line. “This home reflects everything we love about the community of BIGHORN Golf Club,” the owners add. “The privacy, the security, the quality of the food and service, knowing that it is not the club you choose, but the community where you belong.” “Like most amazing properties, this one is impossible to fully understand in photographs. You have to personally step through those glass doors, pause, and imagine the lifestyle that can be yours,” Ball says.To experience this property firsthand, contact BIGHORN Properties at 800-551-5578 or visit BIGHORN’s website.
