Keith Tokuhara, M.D., a board-certified ophthalmologist, recognized his calling in eye care early in his education. After medical training at Loma Linda University and a retina fellowship, he refined his surgical skills at Arrowhead Regional Medical Center, where high-volume trauma cases prepared him for even the most complex eye conditions. In 2016 he became the physician behind Desert Vision Center in Rancho Mirage, determined to pair advanced technology with genuine compassion.
At Desert Vision Center, Dr. Tokuhara leads a team of ophthalmic technologists whose university-level education is rare in private eye care. Together they focus on advanced surgical care for patients needing cataract removal, glaucoma procedures, and other complex anterior-segment operations. The practice continually invests in cutting-edge equipment and premium lens options to give patients sharper vision and greater independence.
Cataract surgery is inevitable for most people, and while many procedures are routine, Dr. Tokuhara’s fellowship in retina care provides a critical edge in complex or failed cases. Patients from across the country seek his expertise, a distinction that reinforces Desert Vision Center’s reputation for excellence. For Dr. Tokuhara, the greatest reward comes the morning after surgery, when patients describe seeing clearly once again – whether it’s the golf course outside their window or the faces of their grandchildren. “We restore not just sight,” he says, “but life.”
